• Account data: name, email address, username, and profile picture when you create an account.
• User content: stories, comments, reviews, and other material you submit.
• Communications: messages you send to us (e.g., support requests or feedback).

b) Information collected automatically

• Usage data: pages viewed, reading history, search queries, features used, and time spent in the App.
• Device data: device model, operating system, unique device identifiers, IP address, and general location (city-level).
• Crash and performance data: error logs and diagnostic information used to improve app stability.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.

• Screen submitted chapters, using automated tools and human review, for content that may violate our Writing Guidelines or Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:

• Service providers: trusted vendors who help us operate the Service (e.g., hosting, analytics, email delivery).
• Content moderation: when you submit a chapter, its text is sent to a third-party automated moderation service to screen for content that may violate our Writing Guidelines (e.g., content sexualizing minors, extreme violence, hate speech). Chapters flagged by this screening are held back from publishing until a member of our moderation team reviews them.
• Legal requirements: when required by law, regulation, or legal process.
• Safety: to protect the rights, property, or safety of Chapter, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your data from our active systems immediately upon confirmation. Residual copies that persist in backups are purged within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain data longer.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
